Introduction to Kumikō with JETAABC
This March, Dōjin Arts was honoured to host The JET Alumni Association of British Columbia (JETAABC) for an afternoon of learning about and experiencing kumikō - a formal incense gathering and part of the traditional Japanese art of kōdō - the way of incense.
This introductory session was designed for those brand new to kōdō to learn in an immersive and welcoming environment. Alumni and participants began with an overview of the art and history of kōdō before moving into the traditional tatami tearoom to experience and compare several types of highly fragrant woods in a kumikō game incorporating seasonal and literary references.
Thank you JETAABC for reaching out to Dōjin Arts and allowing us the opportunity to share the traditional Japanese art of incense with your community.
